FELINUS: DEAD OF NIGHT complete comic by javierhernandez FELINUS: DEAD OF NIGHT complete comic by javierhernandez
A new 4 Pager, starring the Cat Man of Ghoulash!

I posted this earlier, but I think it's easier to read if it's in one long, continuous strip. Felinus is on the prowl.... Enjoy!

So much fantastic story-telling in just four pages!

It's great to see the Felinus concept come to full fruition.
I like the rapport that Jack Rousseau (A nice tip of the hat to Werewolf by Night!) seems to share with his furry, four-legged friends.

An all-around creative triumph, Javier!

Thank you, Eric.

There's something so exciting about crafting a comic, page by page. It's having the freedom of each blank page to tell a part of the story, and hooking it up to the pages before and after. For me, that was born in my head as a kid, flipping through the pages of my older brother's comics.... Each page ending with a reason to proceed to the next. Each new page yet another step of the story. By the end, you've read a comic.

And the thing with this character, the name 'Jack Rousseau' works as both a nod the comic you mentioned, as well as to the star of the PINK PANTHER series, Inspector Jacques Clouseau. Talk about serendipity!

Yeah I liked it more as a continuous comic format. Great story! I like how the french girl liked his fur lmao I can just imagine her wanting a pair of gloves or something. I felt the panel with the dead women and the space zombie are teasers for future comics and I hope we get to see some of them too later on...they look like some nasty foes for Felinus! And it was kinda nice to see that he has some constraint in killing people if he can prevent unwanted blood on his hands hmm?? Good intro overall Javier :D and the colors are very nice too. That one panel where he's in the door way hiding in a shadow and sneaking up to the thief was a good panel of suspense!

Crystal, thank you for your comments! Always appreciate when someone takes the time to share their thoughts like that.

It's funny, but as I was writing the sequence with Bloody Mariah and the space mummy, on a whim I decided to make them 'paramours'! I just thought that added a whole layer of creepiness!

The French girl: Yeah, thanks, that was funny. I just wanted to make sure each character reacted different. Makes for a more dynamic group of characters, I think.

I don't want Felinus to be an indiscriminate killer. Besides, the thief didn't seem like a hardened criminal, more of a nervous amateur. But cross the line and....  ;)

By the way, the last page in Jack's apartment didn't originally include the cats. He woke up, got dressed and headed back to that cafe for a meal. I decided that giving him cat companions allows for exposition, and gives the character another dimension. Plus, my friend Jim Lujan had suggested to me to push the feline angle of the character. So in the end, it seems very natural that Jack would be surrounded by cats. And they're not so much his pets as 'roommates', free to come and go as they wish.
