SPIDER-CALACA Poster Comic by javierhernandez SPIDER-CALACA Poster Comic by javierhernandez
New Poster Comic for March:

One of my CALACAS FOR JUSTICE characters. Mash-ups of Dia de Los Muertos calacas and classic superhero archetypes. (I won't specify WHICH archetypes, naturally!)

If you want to read a little more about the Spider-Calaca and the other CALACAS OF JUSTICE, check out my blog [link]

This is my first time seeing some calaca characters of yours and a mexican spider-man version look really awesome, especially the humor. Lol...

Yes, my comic was a lesson for the kids of the world: What's worse than failing?

Never getting a chance to prove yourself!!

Haha poor Spider-Calaca! He didn’t even get to do anything XD I love the expression on his face in the last panel too...he likes scorning his bad luck but also kinda embarrassed. Great work!

Thanks, Luis. Working on a humor story is so much fun. (As you know!) There's a liberating freedom to it, but at the same time, you're walking a tightrope regarding hoping you're being funny and not too lame. At least for me.

I second what the comments above said. I love this. I especially like that it's a humor comic. It's such a fun goofy style. And it falls under parody so you're safe to boot.

Hmm, for some reason, as of this minute, the revised art file I uploaded doesn't seem to have taken effect yet. Is there a delay with DeviantArt regarding edits? It's been 10 minutes and the new file isn't visible yet.

I'll check back later in the day.....

Jason and Jose, thank you, sirs!

Coming a month after The Wake, it was really fun to let loose with a humor strip. And who don't love calacas?!

Jas: Sometimes, as you put it, things just work out perfect. Professor Pulpo should give a certain 8-limbed corporate character a run for his money!

Thanks to Mr. Gonzalexx, I've fixed a typo! And I also gave the colors a slightly darker, richer hue. Normally I don't like to go George Lucas and tinker with a project once it's done, but I felt a little adjustment just makes it look better, without changing the fundamental aspect of the comic.

I love this "world" you created, man. And the funny style rocks. This has great potential. Great stuff, Jav. Best of luck with the Calacas!

Wow Javi, you've outdone yourself!
By far my fave poster comic yet!!!

Not only are the art/colors lookin good, there's some really inspired things going on here (beyond the Calacas For Justice, and Spider-Calaca, which you already know I love)!!
Vic Ventura??!! Nice!!!
Professor Pulpo (I can't believe the Spanish works out so well in your favor!!!), and to have him have skeleton, sorry, calaca arms coming off his head/skull?!? Genius!!!
And poor Vic, he's an even worse crimefighter than his corporate comics counterpart!!!!
Well played!

Can't wait for more Calacas For Justice, and more poster comics!!!
Is it April yet?
